- Carolina Marin, Christinna Pedersen and Kamilla Rytter-Juhl book spots in World Championships finals.

- Jan Ø. Jørgensen did not find his rhythm in the opening game.

- Best European performance since 2006.

Three (European) women - one well on her way of breaking an all-time record and two whose  appearance in tomorrow’s finals will be a premiere - will play for the World Championships titles.

Carolina Marin is back in the finals, securing her spot by showing all her talent and fighting spirit in her semifinal date with Korea’s Sung Ji-hyun, winning in three games 21-17, 15-21, 21-16 after 1h30 of play.

Marin took the first game comfortably, but lost control in the second and appeared kind of distracted in the deciding third game as her exhausted Asian opponent was all of a sudden leading 13-8. But it was Marin who pushed herself against Sung, to whom she had lost a controversial German Open final earlier this year, and staged a fascinating comeback to come-off with 10-points in a row with a series of smashes and excellent drop shots. The world No. 1 advanced to the finals with a 21-16 in the rubber-game.

"Today I was nervous and sometimes I was angry with myself because I wasn`t thinking about what I had to do, I was thinking about the score," the 22-year-old European Champion told reporters.

"That made me angrier with myself."

The Spaniard, who has won three Superseries titles (Australian Open, Malaysia Open and Yonex All-England Open) already this season, said she felt "better than before" since returning to the court two weeks ago but was taking it one step at a time.

"I don't want to think about defending the title from last year," she said to AFP. "I just want to enjoy the competition and do my best."

Yes, Carolina Marin already wrote her name into European badminton history books last year, but tomorrow she can set a new record as there is no European shuttler who ever won two World Championships gold medals in the singles categories.

Pedersen/Juhl in “their biggest final ever”

Christinna Pedersen, Best BEC Female Player Of The Year 2013, and Kamilla Rytter-Juhl eased past Japanese duo of Naoko Fukuman/Kusumi Yonao in straight games 21-12, 21-15. The Danes were in full control the entire match.

“Yeeessssssss we did it! World Championship FINAL!! Tomorrow will be our biggest final ever”, both wrote on their official facebook page.

They have a chance to make history tomorrow when they face China's Tian Qing and Zhao Yunlei in the finals. If the fourth-seeded Danes prevail over their fifth-seeded opponents it will be the first time in 12 years a non-Chinese pair have won the event. And since the year 1983 no European women’s doubles duo appeared in a World Championships final.

Supreme Lee Chong Wei too good for Jørgensen

Former world No.1 Lee Chong Wei proved too strong for Denmark’s Jan Ø. Jørgensen as he eased to a straight games victory in their semi-final, and will now meet title holder Chen Long in Sunday's final.

In the opening game, Lee Chong Wei always appeared to have the upper hand leaving the Dane only seven points. Jørgensen only found his rhythm in the second game where he was able to push the Malaysian all the way. But in the end it was not good enough to beat the two-time Olympic silver medalist today. The Dane lost 19-21.

“Lee Chong Wei proved too strong for me today and I have to settle with a bronze medal this time. He was just too fast in the first game and I couldn't find any rhythm. When I found it, it was a bit too late. I feel like I have pushed myself during the last months and have learned a valuable lesson in order to achieve even better results in the future", Jørgensen wrote on facebook.

Congratulations to the bronze medal, Jan!

Sunday’s finals will commence at 08.00 CET.
