Denmark will host the major European badminton event in 2017, the European Championships. This was announced by Badminton Europe (BEC) today. The event will take place from 25 to 30 April in the Danish city of Kolding in Southern Denmark.

"We are happy to allocate our biggest event to Denmark. I am sure that the tournament will be organized at a very high level. With Badminton Denmark we will have a great partner who will try to seek new standards in organizing European Championships. That fits very well with our ambitions to continuously increase the standard of the event", says Brian Agerbak, General Secretary of Badminton Europe.

"It is again a fantastic opportunity to present our sport with international focus in Denmark after the successful World Championships in 2014. We will work hard to give the spectators a great experience and we want to present our sport in an innovative manner", says Rene Tøft, President of Badminton Denmark.

The 2017 European Championships will be played in the Tre-For Arena in Kolding. Denmark hosted European Badminton Championships in 1996 and 2008. The 2016 European Championships will take place in France.
