Europe's interest in Sunday's Badminton World Championships finals will be Spain's Carolina Marin. The ninth seed European Champion cruised to victory over India's Pusarla V. Sindhu 21-17 21-15 to set up a final showdown with Chinese top seed and hot favourite Li Xuerui.

In her first World Championships semi-final Marin never showed signs of being nervous or losing the control of the match. The Spaniard is the first European women's singles player entering a World Championships final since Camilla Martin in 1999.

The match of Carolina Marin will be the third match tomorrow. The finals day start with the women's doubles event at 12.30 CET followed by the men's doubles finals. Click here for tomorrow's finals schedule.

Lee Chong Wei proves too strong for Viktor Axelsen

Top-ranked Lee Chong Wei, twice a runner-up at the tournament, beat young Danish hopeful Viktor Axelsen 21-9, 21-7 in front of a partisan Copenhagen crowd. The world number one just proves too strong for Axelsen today but the up-and-coming young Dane played a fantastic home event and can now celebrate his first ever World Championships medal.

"I have not much to say - I did lose to a better player today! Still really happy and proud about my medal. Thanks once again for the amazing support. I've enjoyed every second this week", said Axelsen via facebook.

Boe/Mogensen and Fischer/Pedersen have to settle for bronze

The Danish hopes of having a representative in tomorrow's finals on home soil were dashed as both Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen and the mixed duo of Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen lost their semi-finals encounters in two straight games. Boe/Mogensen went down to Yong Dae Lee/Yeon Seong Yoo of Korea 12-21, 18-21. European Champions and Olympic bronze medalists Joachim Fischer/Christinna Pedersen lose out their semi-final against Chinese duo of Ma Jin/Chen Xu, the second seeds, in two games 15-21, 9-21.

Congratulations to Viktor Axelsen, Mathias Boe/Carsten Mogensen and Joachim Fischer/Christinna Pedersen for winning the bronze medal. And all the best to Carolina Marin in tomorrow's World Championships final.
