New President elected

40 countries were represented at the 2014 Annual Delegates’ Meeting held in Dublin, Ireland on 12 April 2014. Two distinguished Council members retired whilst a new President and Vice President including two new Directors were elected to be on the governing board of the Confederation.

Special guests, who were invited to attend the meeting, included BEC Hall-of-Fame member Erland Kops, former President Tom Bacher, former Council member Frank Wilson from England. Gisela Hoffmann, the long-serving former General Secretary from Germany, former Council member Irene Delvai from Switzerland and the Honorary Vice Presidents Horst Kullnigg (Austria) and Torsten Berg (Denmark) were also invited as guests of honour.
 
The Annual Delegates' Meeting brings together Badminton Europe’s Member Associations to discuss relevant subjects affecting badminton within the continent.

The ADM took place at the Hilton Hotel conference room in Dublin. Director for Marketing, Kevin Scott (England) was re-elected for his position for the period 2014 to 2017.

Gregory Verpoorten elected President of Badminton Europe

Gregory Verpoorten (Belgium) was elected as new President of the Confederation. Verpoorten took over the position from Poul-Erik Høyer(Denmark) who stepped down in May 2013 as he became President of the Badminton World Federation. Since Høyer stepped down, Joao Matos (Portugal) served the Confederation as an Acting President until this week's ADM.

Richard Vaughan (Ireland) was elected Director for Communication and Jean-Marc Serfaty (France) is the new Director for Development.

Murat Özmekik new Vice-President

Murat Özmekik (Turkey) took over the Vice-President position from Alberto Miglietta (Italy), who served in that position for five years. In his role as the Chairman of the meeting, Joao Matos thanked Alberto Miglietta (Italy) for serving Badminton Europe as a Vice President since 2009. Miglietta did not seek re-election.

Corina Dan (Romania) served BEC first as the Director for Public Relations from 2008-2009 and then as the Director for Communication since 2009.

Badminton Europe would once again like to thank Alberto Miglietta and Corina Dan for their dedicated work to the Confederation.

The meeting approved changes to the Confederation’s rules and regulations and accepted the budget for 2014 and financial forecasts for 2015 and 2016.

The Council of Badminton Europe is now composed of the following ten people:

Vice-President: Andrey Antropov (Russia)
Vice-President: Murat Özmekik (Turkey)

Director for Administration: Lawrence Chew (Switzerland)
Director for Communication: Richard Vaughan (Ireland)
Director for Development: Jean-Marc Serfaty (France)
Director for Finance: Ritchie Campbell (Scotland)
Director for Marketing: Kevin Scott (England)
Director for Sport: Peter Tarcala (Slovakia)
