Another edition of the RSL BWF/BEC Coach Education Level 1 Course is taking place this year in the north-westerly region of sunny and warm Spain. Oviedo, capital of Asturias and a very well-known city for its famous cider and rich heritage, has welcomed 14 participants from 11 different countries at the sport facilities “El Cristo”.

Fran Dacal, Badminton Asturias Staff stated - “Cooperating with the Spanish Federation and Badminton Europe in such international events is very important for Badminton Asturias.  After so many years, we are delighted to host another Coach Education Level 1 course with these 14 participants attending.”

The course has just kicked off with loads of interactions and discussions. Alan McIlvain and Maja Kersnik are the main tutors taking the lead in this journey and they are looking forward to seeing the progress that the coaches will make throughout the course. “It feels very nice to come to Oviedo to deliver another BWF/BEC Coach Education Level 1 course. It is my first time in this city and also my first time working with Maja. In general, I’m looking forward to meeting new people and I always get to learn something from others,” shared McIlvain, Tutor of the course.

Mari Carmen Casermeiro, BEC Development and High Performance Officer, will also be on site as part of the BEC staff and added: “It feels great to be back and interact with so many coaches willing to learn. It’s already the third time I have had the chance to organise this course and it’s always a great experience to see everyone improving right from the beginning.”

It will be a busy course for the 14 participants with a diverse array of topics to be covered from today such as coaching philosophy, hitting and movement skills, and communication styles, until its conclusion this Sunday, 30 April.
