The 2023 European Club Championships have been allocated to the Spanish Badminton Federation, to be held Monday 19 until Friday 23 June 2023.

In a little over three months, the best club in Europe will be crowned. It has now been confirmed that the 2023 European Club Championships have been allocated to the Spanish Badminton Federation and the tournament will be taking place Monday 19 until Friday 23 June 2023 in Oviedo, Spain.

Badminton Europe’s General Secretary Brian Agerbak is delighted by the news. “I am pleased that the European Club Championships will be played in Oviedo, Spain in June. Thanks to FESBA for organizing these Championships with your experienced team. I believe the competing teams will have a fantastic week both on and off court.”

Oviedo is ready for top-level badminton
Oviedo is the capital city of the Principality of Asturias in northwest Spain, with a rich history that has earned it a spot in UNESCO's World Heritage list. The city is also one of Spain’s badminton hotspots, home to a high-level badminton club and first-class sports facilities.

Andoni Azurmendi, President of the Spanish Badminton Federation, is immensely pleased to welcome the 2023 European Club Championships in Oviedo. “It is a great pleasure for me that the best players in Europe will meet in the Corredoira Arena, the headquarters of the Oviedo Badminton Club where several top-level international tournaments have already been hosted. The hall will live up to the expectations thanks to the Oviedo Council and their investment in its renovation in order to host this event.”

“Thanks to Badminton Europe and their trust in the Spanish Badminton Federation and the Oviedo Badminton Club, we will organise yet another event of a high level, a continuation of the European Championships of 2018 and 2022 that were celebrated in Spain — events in which Carolina Marin became champion. It is both a huge responsibility and a great pride.”

This will be the 44th edition of the European Club Championships, formerly known as the Europe Cup. The yearly event has already been hosted twice in Spain, and this will be the first time that it takes place in Oviedo.

“We are convinced that the players will feel the warmth of the people of Asturias, whom all feel the sport of badminton with fierce passion. I am sure that we will experience a wonderful week of badminton with an amazing atmosphere,” concluded the President of the Spanish Badminton Federation.
