Kyiv has had time to recover from an unforgettable event, the European Championships, and has just inaugurated this year’s Shuttle Time tutors/trainers course.

Improving the sport of badminton should be a collective effort, and that is why Badminton Europe and the Ukrainian Badminton Confederation have joined forces to deliver the 2021 Shuttle Time tutors/trainers course. From today, the participants will get to learn from great professionals in this three-day programme.

The perfect way to boost talent
With a total of 15 participants from seven different European countries — Azerbaijan, France, Italy, Kosovo, and Ukraine — those assisting the course until Sunday in Kyiv will learn how to implement the Shuttle Time programme in their native countries.

It would be very easy to just focus on professional players, but investing in our future is a must. Alina Flint, the national coordinator for Shuttle Time Ukraine, is very happy to welcome this course in Kyiv and believes it is a fruitful opportunity for everyone.

-It is also important for us to host courses like this one today because before becoming badminton stars, all the players start somewhere, and the Shuttle Time programme is a perfect way for kids to discover badminton, Flint said.

Sharing experiences
Justine Cammal, Development & High Performance Officer in Badminton Europe, considers how beneficial such programmes can be for our sport community. Due to the current circumstances, it can be difficult to arrange such a course but both Badminton Europe and the Ukrainian Badminton Confederation have worked hard together to deliver it as expected.

-For us, it is a pleasure to be here in Kyiv and be able to gather so many participants from 7 different countries. Of course, we are keeping in mind the COVID-19 measures and organised the course to keep a sort of safe bubble for all the participants, Cammal explained.

With all participants having almost finished their first day of the course and enjoying valuable training in full safety, it can be said that it has got off to a great start. Cammal is sure that the knowledge to be shared is a great way to improve such initiatives all over Europe.

-The Ukrainian Badminton Federation has been really active with the Shuttle Time programme and they have a great experience to share with the participants who wish to kick-start Shuttle Time in their home countries, Cammal stated.
