Denmark's assistant national coach Thomas Stavngaard has on Monday been tested positive with COVID-19.

- Apart from headaches, I do not feel any discomfort, says Thomas Stavngaard.

It is clear after Stavngaard woke up on Monday morning with signs of illness, after which he underwent a quick test, which unfortunately could confirm the suspicion.

A subsequent PCR test performed on Monday morning has since been able to back up the positive quick test response. Fortunately, the symptoms are mild so far, says Thomas Stavngaard.

- When I woke up this morning, it was with a throbbing headache. It helped with a few Panodils on, but the pain has come back a bit since then. Apart from headaches, I do not feel any discomfort, says Thomas Stavngaard.

Thomas Stavngaard, like most of the Danish 2021 European Championships players, traveled home from Kyiv on Sunday. The national coach was not in close contact with any of the players or the other coaches and staff in connection with the return trip.

Before returning home on Sunday, Stavngaard had been tested negative for COVID-19 with both a quick test and a PCR test, and on arrival in Denmark he also took a quick test, which gave a negative answer.

The assistant national coach is now in home isolation.
