Coaches are important in any sports system and coach education is an important area the BWF and BEC are focusing on. Despite the pandemic, Badminton Europe is looking forward to a well-attended Coach Education Level 2 Course in Milan, Italy.
The course will take place from this Sunday, 4-11 October, with great sign-up numbers. Aspiring coaches from Italy, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Estonia, Cyprus, Portugal, Denmark, Ukraine, Switzerland, Germany and Slovenia will descend on Northern Italy to complete this important course for their development.
Badminton Europe’s Development & High Performance Officer, Luca Crippa, one of the organisers of the event is very pleased with the interest shown.
- We would like to thank the Italian Badminton Federation for this opportunity. It is a great success to have these kinds of numbers during difficult times. It shows a great interest in the BWF/BEC Coach Education system and we will try to keep this interest high in the future.
The challenge
There will be three Experts in attendance for the course, one of which will be Martijn van Dooremalen, who emphasises the vital milestone these coaches will be reaching by attending the course.
- Coach Education is the backbone of player development. BWF / BEC Level 2 is an important step for coaches and players on an international level.
Anticipating how the course next will play out and the potential challenges that will be overcome, Martijn van Dooremalen states.
- There is a big variety in the group of participants, from national coaches to club coaches, from professionals to part-timers, from former high-level players to club players. Making use of existing knowledge in the group will be the challenge. Also of course the Coronavirus challenge will be to keep the course safe!
Giving the final word in advance of next week, Martijn van Dooremalen says.
- I look forward to the course because of the diversity of coaches. Some are familiar to me as a player and some did the Level 1 course with me. It will be interesting to see the developments of the coaches.
