The Badminton Europe Centre of Excellence will open its doors on 10 June 2020.

The Centre of Excellence in Holbæk, Denmark was shut down in March because of the COVID-19 situation, but now the centre is ready to welcome players, coaches and staff from the 10 June 2020.

The decision on opening the Centre of Excellence is based on communication between Badminton Europe, the Municipality of Holbæk and the Danish NOC, DIF. DIF confirmed that the practice Badminton Europe offers are within the Danish rules for professional athletes, and that allows Badminton Europe to welcome players back to Holbæk.

- We have been in contact with the players during these difficult times, and I have no doubt that they are looking forward to go back on court again, Senior Manager at Badminton Europe, Jacob Oehlenschlaeger said.

Unique opportunity
All necessary precautions has been and will of course be taken, since the safety of the players, coaches and staff is the most important to Badminton Europe.

Multiple daily training sessions will take place in the badminton venue, in the gym and outdoor, and with the professional setup the Centre of Excellence offers a unique opportunity for the top level players to practice on court against top level opponents despite of the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

- In the past two years multiple top players have stayed at the centre, and with no tournaments happening at the moment it is a good chance for the top players to take part in high level practice. I hope they will seek that opportunity, Oehlenschlaeger stated.

Top players confirm their return
Players like Felix Burestedt (WR 57), Milan Dratva (WR 143), Martina Repiska (WR 88) and Irina Andersen (WR 92) have already confirmed that they will return to Centre of Excellence in June.

Are you a professional player and do you want to join the practice on Centre of Excellence?
