Justine Cammal, 32, comes from Montpellier in the South of France. She discovered badminton at school, where they could choose a sport during the lunch break, but she did not become a registered player before she was 20.

- Since then, I have always been involved in the clubs I found in the various cities I lived in,Toulouse, Strasbourg, Quebec, Tahiti and Argeles sur Mer. The badminton community has always been very welcoming wherever I went! And my heart was always hesitant between working in environmental conservation and sustainable sport development.

Before coming to BEC, she was working in biodiversity and sea conservation as a project manager for the sustainable development of recreational maritime activities in a Marine Natural Park. The main objective of such a Marine Protected Area is to manage a sustainable development of activities while ensuring the environmental conservation of a specific area known for its rich and diverse biodiversity. Her main missions there were to manage projects aiming at a better understanding of the activities taking place in the park and in close contact with associations and companies organising activities such as scuba-diving, sea exploration trips, nautical sporting events, etc.

- For two years, I have been a member of the French Federation Commission for sustainable development and citizenship, which helped me a lot to get a better understanding of the organisation and dynamic of badminton in France.

At BEC she will be a part of the development team, contributing to the growth and expansion of badminton throughout Europe, in particular areas regarding for example Para Badminton and Gender Equity, always having a close link with the Member Associations.

- First of all, I am really looking forward to meeting the whole BEC team in person, as I arrived at a peculiar moment, during which we have to remain connected via online conferences. Then, I will be happy to get to know better BEC’s Member Associations, partners and work closely with people living all around Europe for the common objective of expanding the sport we love playing.
