The Welsh women’s singles player, Jordan Hart, is on her way to Jamaica to play the VI Jamaica International.

Last year, Hart also participated in the V Jamaica International, where she went all the way to the final and claimed the title.

- I am looking forward to going back to Jamaica this year after such a great year last year. It was my first ever senior international tournament win, so I have fond memories of this tournament. It kicked off a very successful year with seven podiums and five tournament wins, so it is great to be going back to Jamaica, Hart said.

- My expectations for the tournament are just to perform well and enjoy the tournament as much as last year. As long as I perform, anything can happen, she added.

Climbing the rankings

For now, Hart is ranked as number 73 in the world. Since the season began back in August 2019, she has climbed 20 spots on the world ranking, and she is not thinking about stopping there.

- I am not chasing qualification for anything at the moment - for me it is to climb the world rankings and be in a position to be able to enter the larger events around the world. I would like to be the best badminton player I can be. Gain as much experience as possible and learn my craft. I still think I have lots to learn and I am enjoying the challenge of becoming a better player, she stated.

To qualify for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo, Hart would have to get past Kirsty Gilmour from Scotland, who is currently ranked as number 28. But as she is not chasing the qualification, Hart has set some other goals for the 2020 season.

- In 2020, I would like to be competitive in larger events, perform well at major championships and continue to climb the rankings as I have been doing the last 12 months.
