The Netherlands could not stop Denmark from reclaiming the title at the European Men’s Team Championships.

Denmark has never lost at the European Men’s Team Championships and that did not change on Sunday. The Netherlands made it to the final, but the Dutch did not stand a chance against the top seeds.

Axelsen on top
Viktor Axelsen won in straight games against Mark Caljouw and the Dutch admitted that the batteries are running low

- I am actually still tired from yesterday. If you are not 100 percent against Viktor, you have no chance. Maybe we have been celebrating too much, but I also think it is fair, Caljouw said.

- We made it to the final, and the team is tired. We do not have a big squad and we cannot change around.

Denmark leading by two
In the first men’s doubles Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen dominated also winning in straight games against Jelle Maas and Robin Tabeling giving Denmark a 2-0 lead.

- We are on the right path. We beat three pairs we could meet at All England or Japan Open or whatever tournament, and we want to send a signal that we are ready to battle guys above them and when we meet again they know that we are fully focused, Rasmussen said.

- In both games we were okay until 11, but we lost a bit of focus in the second part of the games, and that is why it got difficult, Jelle Maas said.

Match winner Antonsen
Anders Antonsen secured the gold medals for Denmark and at the same time he wrote history on behalf of the Danish team. With a game score of 48-0 the Danish men’s team played an entire event without losing a single game, which was the first time in history. At the same time Denmark is still unbeaten as a team.

- We are without any doubt the best team in Europe. We do very well in Denmark, and I am proud of my team and my country, and I am satisfied, Antonsen said.
