Another great result for the Danish women’s doubles, Maiken Fruergaard and Sara Thygesen. Yesterday they defeated the world’s number two, Yuki Fukushima and Sayaka Hirota from Japan. 

Today they were facing Puttita Supajiakultha and Sapsiree Taerattanachai from Thailand in the quarterfinals.The first game was controlled by the Danes who were always in front and never lost focus. In the second game, it was different as Supajiakultha and Taerattanachai were leading until 18-17, where Fruergaard and Thygesen made three points in a row and were suddenly leading. The game ended 21-15 22-20 in favour of the Danes sending them through to the semifinals.

What a feeling

The French mixed doubles, Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue, continue their amazing tournament by sending home a home crowd favourite, Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti. A long and close match that went in the favour of the French, 21-19 14-21 21-18, who now reach the first Super 500 semifinal together. 

Delphine Delrue wrote this on her Instagram: 

- So happy right now to reach our first semifinal in a World Tour Super 500! Beating the world number five Jordan and Oktavianti in Indonesia was crazy! Now ready to face the world number two from China tomorrow.

Two Danish men’s singles in the semifinals

Viktor Axelsen was facing Zhao Jun Peng from China, who beat Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus in the first round. It was a close first game that went to the Chinese player, but in the last two games, the Dane had the control and could cruise into the semifinals after winning 20-22 21-13 21-7. Tomorrow he will play against Anthony Sinisuka Ginting from Indonesia. 

Once again Anders Antonsen was facing Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie, a player Antonsen does not have a positive statistic against. The last two times the players have met, it was Christie who could walk from the court as winner. But not this time. Antonsen won the match in three games, 21-14 10-21 21-12. In the semifinals he will face Lee Cheuk Yiu from Hong Kong, China.
