Alex Green and Estelle van Leeuwen had a good opening match on day three at the 2019 European U17 Championships.

A lot of matches will take place in Gniezno, Poland, today at the 2019 European U17 Championships. Two of the players, who will see the court more than once are English Alex Green and Estelle van Leeuwen.

They walk on court together in the mixed doubles category, while they also both participate in the doubles (men’ and women’s) categories.

Good intensity
On Thursday morning van Leeuwen and Green won against Jakub Melaniuk and Daria Zimnol from Poland 21-7 21-13.

- We played well with good intensity, and now we are just looking forward to the next couple of rounds, Alex Green said.

- It is obviously important to get the first one out of the way so we can prepare for the next matches, he added.

Three categories
On top of the doubles categories Estelle van Leeuwen also plays women’s singles.

- It is great (to play three events) as long I look after myself, then I can cope with it. I am happy to do it – it is a privilege, van Leeuwen said.
