Carolina Marin will soon be back on court after seven months of recovery.

Badminton fans from all around the world had hoped to see Carolina Marin walking on court in Basel next week for defending her World Championships title from Nanjing.

On the 5th of August Marin and her team decided to withdraw from the event because the three-times World Champion is still not ready to play.

- It has been a difficult decision because it is the biggest tournament of the year, Carolina Marin said.

Learning to be patient
On January 27th 2019, Carolina Marin suffered a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the final of Indonesia Masters, and Marin admits that coming back on court has been a tough fight.

- Without any doubt, for me the hardest part of this injury lies to the fact that I am an impatient person. During the injury process all activities slow down and this is hard to live with, Marin explained.

- The good thing is that during this process, I have learnt to build my patience in order to overcome this obstacle.

Improvements have been great
Marin is expecting to walk onto court soon:

- I am feeling okay. The evolution of the injury is doing better than expected, and I am looking forward to come back to competition, Marin said.

- Mentally and physically the improvements have been very big. During last week I have experimented a significant improvement in all my capacities and I am very happy about this, she added.

Carolina Marin is the only women’s singles player to win three World Championships titles.
