Badminton Europe Centre of Excellence (CoE) coach Kestutis Navickas, believes that having Polish SU5-Para badminton star Bartlomiej Mroz at the Centre has put things into perspective.

The coach from Lithuania has worked with Mroz over the past week and believes that he has a lot of professionalism in his attitude to the sport.

- This situation is a good eye-opener for all of us because it just shows that there is a different side to badminton and sports, Navickas said.

- Para badminton players can also be implemented in the same way at practice as all of the other players are.

Good to have the opportunity

Navickas has revealed that it has been different but by no means difficult, and that he has really appreciated the chance to train Mroz.

- It has been a good experience for me to see, but at the same time, Bart has a very good understanding of badminton. It has been a pleasure and absolutely no problem to have him here, he said.

The coach commented and praised the Polish player’s way of training and said it was a good first experience for him.

- Bart is a full professional with a very good technique, so we could fully implement him into the practice, regardless of his disability, the Lithuanian continued.

This is not the first time that Navickas has trained disabled players and he is happy about getting this new opportunity.

- I have trained deaf players before, but it is the first Para badminton player that I have been able to work with.

- A lot of it depends on the personality, but Bart is very professional in his approach to his training and to his game. He does need to work his body a little bit differently, due to his disability, and take care of the body in a different way. That was good and very interesting for me to learn, he finished.
