Today has marked the start of the Para-Badminton High Performance Training Camp in Dublin, and it is fair to say that it began very well.

The camp will continue until the end of the day tomorrow, as the European countries prepare for the first ever Paralympics with badminton being a sport at.

A packed day of training

The participants of the court began the day with on court training in the morning, in one group, in the sports hall.

Following lunch, there was some more on court sessions and multi shuttle exercises for the participants to learn some new things off each other.

Towards the end of the day, the players at the camp then had another on court session, which consisted of doubles training and serving.

Preparation is going well

Badminton Europe’s Manager for Development and High Performance, Tania Teoh believes that there will be a lot of ways to benefit from the camp ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

- It is really nice to see elite players from 10 European countries come together and train as a team. We hope that these training camps will benefit the players for their ‘Road to Tokyo’ journey. Tania Teoh said.

Teoh has also spoke about how the organisation of the camp has been on Badminton Ireland’s side and in particular, Conor Doherty and Greg Farrell.

 - A shout out also to Badminton Ireland for hosting us and as always, doing a tremendous job in the organization. My personal thanks to Conor Doherty and Greg Farrell for their assistance, she added.
