From 24-30 June, badminton will get underway at the European Games 2019 in Minsk. Mia Blichfeldt from Denmark will be participating in her first multi-sports event in Europe.

As the youngest Dane ever, Mia Blichfeldt became the National Champion in 2014. Only one year later, she won the European Junior Championships. Today, the 21-year old is one of the best badminton players in the world.

Competing in the Women’s Singles, Blichfeldt already won two titles this year: The Barcelona Spain Masters in February and the Denmark Challenge in May.

First European Games for Blichfeldt

For the upcoming European Games in June, Blichfeldt is one of the big hopes of Denmark to win a medal at the European Games.

- It is my first European Games, so I want to perform well there. I am looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere and to be with the athletes from other sports, she said.

Blichfeldt seeded number two

Blichfeldt, who is seeded number two for the event, has to deal with a strong competition in Minsk. Her compatriot, Line Kjaersfeldt, is the defending champion in the Women’s Singles and seeded number one.
