China lead the way in the quarter final of the Sudirman Cup against Denmark, after going ahead in the tie from the Men’s Doubles match.

Denmark lost the Mixed Doubles contest, while Viktor Axelsen won the second match of the day against Chen Long, before China took another lead after the Men’s Doubles.

All level after two matches

The first match could not have gotten off to a better start, with Mathias Christiansen and Sara Thygesen winning the first game against the world number ones, Zheng Sewei/Huang Yaqiong.

From then on, the Mixed Doubles of Denmark fell behind, and the World Champions managed to win the second and third game with a comfortable margin between.

The next match up was the Men’s Singles. Viktor Axelsen who had only beaten his opponent 3 times in 15 meetings, showed his class to win in straight games.

Axelsen won the first game with ease, after going behind at the start, the Dane managed to beat Long, 11-21.

Going into the second, it was much closer but Axelsen stood strong and resilient to his opponent’s attempt of a comeback and won 18-21 in the second.

Everything is in the balance

As Chen Yufei and Mia Blichfeldt are playing on court in the Women’s Singles right now, Yufei leads the way after winning the first game 21-16.

Blichfeldt has beaten her Chinese opponent before though, can she do it again? Only time can tell, to see if Denmark can take the tie one step further.

The Women’s Doubles, with Chen Quingchen/Jia Yifan up against Maiken Fruergaard/Sara Thygesen, to see who would take the win, if it was to come to that.
