Tomorrow brings the start of the LI-NING Denmark Challenge, which is on the Badminton Europe Circuit for the very first time.

The tournament, which used to be called the Denmark International, has been rebranded and is located in Farum, which is on the outskirts of the Danish capital, Copenhagen.

The qualification begins on Thursday, while the main draw will begin on Friday morning.

In good shape

Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus has revealed to Badminton Europe that his preparations for the tournament could not have gone much better.

The Dane will know by the end of the tomorrow, who he will face in the first elimination round of the tournament.

- I am quite happy with my preparations. The last couple of weeks have been tough, but I’m taking it a bit easier this week, to try and feel as ready as possible for when actions start on Friday for me, Vittinghus said.

- I have no injuries at the moment, so I cannot complain, he added.

Good to be close to home

The 33-year old became a father in 2018 and travels across the world most of the year.
He is happy that he can play his badminton in close proximity to his home but revealed that it does not make it easier to win.

- In terms of my chances to perform well, I do not see any specific advantages, but it is nice not having to go on a long journey, Vittinghus said.

- And more importantly, it gives me a chance to compete without having to be away from my family, he revealed.
