Finals day yesterday in Trencin for the Slovak Open had a strong Thai flavour, as three of the five events comfortably went to Thailand.

The Men’s Singles, however, was impressively won by Denmark’s 25-year-old, Kim Bruun. After a brief scare in the first round against the ever-improving young Englishman Johnny Torjussen, Bruun quickly found his rhythm. Winning the rest of his matches in straight games.

This is his first tournament win since 2017, and in fact his third time meeting Bulgarian Ivan Rusev in a final. Rusev found himself being runner-up in two events yesterday, as he also played in the Men’s Doubles with Nikolov. For Bruun however, the manner of his win in Slovakia, indicates that there is much more to come from him in 2019.
