Badminton Europe (BEC) organized the BEC Shuttle Time Trainer/Tutor Course 2019 in Sigulda (Latvia), last week from 21st to 25th of February. As usual, the course lasted two days and a half and gathered 16 participants from 7 different countries
this year. These countries are: Faroe Islands, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Norway and Sweden.

Once again, the course has been a great experience for every participant with a very dense schedule well managed by the Experts (Henri Vervoort and Kristaps Pilveris) and the organizers from the Latvian Badminton Federation.

The first day of the course was mainly dedicated to a good understanding of the Shuttle Time resources and the role of Shuttle Time Teachers and Tutors. After a quick introduction and an “ice breaking” session, allowing all the participants to get to know each other better, the practical sessions started on court. Each candidate was delivering Shuttle Time sessions as Teachers and then as Tutors, while they were observed and assessed by our two experts.

Quotes for participants:

"Amazing time with amazing people," Paulo Pinheiro (Faroe Islands) on his experience from the course.

"This course  has enriched me professionally and i will be able to transfer the knowledge to others," stated Francesca Fabrizi from Italy.

The second day was the opportunity for the participants to be in the role of Tutors and Trainers, meaning assessing other candidates playing the role of Tutors, Teachers and Kids. This exercise was a great way to test different type of skills such as tutoring, questioning and giving feedback.

A first for Development

Apart from the course, an Instagram takeover took place for the first time from a Development activity at BEC. AnnMarie Bezzina from Malta took over BEC Instagram account for two days to show our fans about her participation at the Shuttle Time/Tutor course. More exposure of BEC Development activities will be planned. So stay tuned and follow BEC Instagram.

"I would like to thank the Latvian Badminton Federation, for the great work in hosting the course and organizing all the logistic perfectly. I would also like to thank all the candidates for their participation and involvement, and of course the two Shuttle Time experts for their great delivery," stated BEC Junior Manager Luca Crippa.
