At the Yonex Dutch Open 2018 Mia Blichfeldt (Denmark) succeeded to fulfill her seeding and won the women’s singles title. On her way to the finals she did not face any game loss and the final was no different.

- It is very relieving to have win this tournament. I lost three finals this year, so I am glad I took this one, Blichfelft stated to Badminton Europe.

In the first game she immediately took the initiative, but at some point Qi Xuefei (China) seemed to have found an answer to her play. At 16-16 Blichfeldt sped up the paste and rushed towards the end to 21-16.

The second game had a similar course, but this time Xuefei came to 18-18. Three points later Mia could finally release her victory scream.

Improvement

- The end of the second game was a quite nervous game. But in both games I lost my discipline at some point and made to many easy mistakes

- I improved a lot during this Dutch Open and I am also playing more clever now. So in the end of both games, I picked up my game plan and made my points

Blichfeldt will fly home later on the day as next Tuesday her home tournament Denmark Open starts. In the first rounds she will face the famous Carolina Marin (Spain).

- It will be very tough, but I played 5 good matches this and I hope I can take that with me!
