Jacco Arends and Selena Piek were on fire in the semi-final against Imke van der Aar and Ruben Jille.

The top seeds were leading all the way through the first game, and the numbers of mistakes was fewer and the speed was higher from the two experienced players. Arends and Piek won the first game 21-15.

- The key was that we were off to a good start. We started really fast and the pressure was on them. That was crucial for the entire match, Jacco Arends says.

Kept fighting
Jille and van der Aar was off to a good start in the second game leading 7-2 and 11-7 at the interval but the favourites turned the game around and won it 22-20.

- We kept fighting all the way through. We showed that we have some good character, so I am happy about that, Jacco Arends says.

- We kept believing, we stayed positive and we changed our tactic a bit. We forgot to use the whole court, and when we did that we got some open spots and that made the difference, Piek says.

Getting better
On Wednesday Selena Piek and Jacco Arends told Badminton Europe, that they have been struggling enjoying being on court. Today it was better.

- We did better than the last few days. We had a lot of good energy and we communicated well, and I am also very pleased with my own level, Selena Pies says.

- Winning is always helpful. We are day by day enjoying it a little bit more, but we still have a long way to go, Arends says.

In the final the Dutch will play Adam Hall and Julie Macpherson from Scotland. The Scottish beat Delphine Delrue and Thom Gicquel from France in straight games in the semi-final.
