As every year, the DAIHATSU YONEX Japan Open 2018 are going to take place in Japan’s capital, Tokyo. From 11-16 September top players from all around the world are competing against each other. And all of them have the same goal: being the best in the world.

Musashino Forest Sport Plaza sounds like a long term. Indeed, it took around 3,5 years to finalise the construction process of the newly built and in Tokyo based venue that is going to serve as host arena for the Olympic Games in 2020.

This September, the multi-sports venue will be used for the DAIHATSU YONEX Japan Open. Around 250 of the best ranked players in the world are going to participate in the tournament.

A come-together of Europe’s elite
Therefore, the players are coming all the way from Europe, America or Asia to represent their home countries.

As defending champion, Viktor Axelsen is seeding number one in the men’s singles. His European top competition consists of Anders Antonsen, Rasmus Gemke, Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittinghus, Brice Leverdez and Mark Caljouw.

Carolina Marin, Kirsty Gilmour and Mia Blichfeldt are going to compete in Japan as top female players from Europe. Chris Adcock and Gabrielle Adcock as well as Mark Lamsfuss and Isabel Herttrich are participating in the mixed double competition.

Watching the future
All the matches in Tokyo are going to take place with seven hours of time difference to the Central European Time. Thus, for Europeans some matches are going to start in the early morning hours.
