6 of Europe’s best para-badminton players have made into TWO finals each this Sunday at the Dubai International, meanwhile Mroz shines in the SU5 men’s singles.

Poland’s Bartlomiej Mroz today proved himself more than worthy of his world number 3 ranking in the SU5 men’s singles, by beating the world championship silver medallist Suryo Nugroho (INA) in straight games 21-10, 21-17. Easily the performance of the day by anyone’s standards. He had this to say after the win

“I am so, so happy with the win over Nugroho! I was very motivated to win today after our previous meeting at last year’s world championships. I changed a lot in training since last year and I played a very fast attacking style which worked today. I’m looking forward to the final tomorrow with the world champion Cheah (Liek Hou, MAL)”.

“This is one of my favourite tournaments do far. So many top players in the standing categories are here. The staff are doing a great job, the Referee and Line Judges are doing well, the mats are great here and I love that the Live Score is working so that my friends and team back home can keep up with the matches”

Super Six going for double-gold

England’s world number 1 SS6 men’s singles Jack Shephard goes for another international title tomorrow. He also features in the men’s doubles final with teammate Krysten Coombs who narrowly missed the singles final after a defeat to Didin Tareosh (MAL) in 3 close games. The England pair will once again face Hongkong’s Chu Man Kai and Wong Chun Yim. SS6 fans will note that both of tomorrows finals sees the 2015 world champion(s) versus the 2017 world champion(s) #FactOfTheDay

Lucas Mazur (FRA) makes it to another two finals in SL4 men’s singles and SL3-SU5 mixed doubles with teammate Faustine Noel, who also features in 2 as she reached the SL3-SU5 women’s doubles final with Indonesia’s Leani Ratri Oktila. The confidence of Mazur as ever unshaken after suffering a hamstring injury earlier this year, had this to say

“I’m very happy to be back on court, and to be winning for the moment. I am really looking forward to my two finals here tomorrow against Sukant Kadam (IND) and with Faustine in mixed doubles against the world champions from Indonesia. The tournament has been good in Dubai. Conditions are a little difficult, it’s a big arena, but the organisers have done well for a first tournament and I would look forward to coming back next year”.

David Toupe (FRA) made it to two finals tomorrow in WH1 men’s singles and WH1-2 men’s doubles with Chan Ho Yuen (HKG). Turkey also have two players in 2 finals tomorrow. Zehra Baglar features in the SU5 women’s singles and the SL3-SU5 women’s doubles with Manasi Joshi (IND) and Emine Seckon features in both the WH2 women’s singles and the WH1-2 mixed doubles with partner Roberto Galdos (ESP).
