The German women’s doubles is accepting a wild card from Badminton Europe and will be joining the German delegation for the 2018 European Championships in Huelva (Spain) this April.

Konon and Efler have recently started their partnership and Badminton Europe has decided to offer them a wild card due to their experience and future in European badminton.

- Linda and Olga is a relatively new pairing, but we are sure that they together have what it takes to be one of Europe’s top pairs. We saw them play together in Kazan, and taking into consideration their recent result from Swiss Open, we are certain that they will be a tough opponent for anybody in Huelva, said Jimmy Andersen, Senior Manager at Badminton Europe.

The 2018 European Championships is organized from 24-29 April in Carolina Marin’s hometown, Huelva.

- Have enough quality
- Linda and Olga are a new pair in women’s doubles and have only played five tournaments together. If we look at the notional ranking they belong minimum to the top 15 pairs in Europe, said Sports Director for the German Badminton Association, Martin Kranitz, to Badminton Europe.

- So, I believe that they have enough quality to take part at the European Championships in Huelva.

Konon and Efler join Johanna Goliszewski/Lara Kaepplein and Isabel Herttrich/Carla Nelte as the women’s doubles representing Germany in Huelva. Linda Efler is already eligible for the championships in mixed doubles with Marvin Emil Seidel.

Badminton Europe will be presenting all the wild cards for the 2018 European Championships today on Tuesday. The wild card for men’s singles will be announced at 4 PM (CET). Stay tuned on our website and social media for more.
