Buy tickets to Europe’s first HSBC BWF World Tour tournament

Badminton World Federation’s (BWF) world tour started the year off in Asia, and the first European tournament of the new HSBC BWF World Tour is getting closer and closer; YONEX Swiss Open (YSO).

- We are very much looking forward to this year’s edition of the Yonex Badminton Swiss Open. The tournament has a long tradition in our country - it has been held since 1955 and is the biggest international tournament in Switzerland, said events board member of Swiss Badminton Charles Keller.

The Super 300-tournament will be hosted in the city of Basel in the venue of St. Jakobshalle and starts 20 February. During this year’s Swiss Open, the federation prepares to start the countdown for 2019, where they will host BWF’s World Championships.

- This year we want to the opportunity to already get in the spirit of this memorable event ahead of us - with the numerous fans in the venue and all the athletes present.


- The world’s best stars
Swiss Open will welcome players and officials from around the world. Spectators can look forward to seeing world class players on European ground, while also supporting the stars from Switzerland.

- The YSO is part of the HSBC BWF World Tour and attracts some of the world’s best as well as the stars of the future. This year we are welcoming the Danish men's doubles Boe/Morgensen, current European champions and world number two, their compatriot, Jan Ø. Jørgensen, who will make his comeback on international level after a long absence due to an injury, the President of Swiss Badminton Robbert de Kock stated.

- We are also looking forward to seeing Kento Momota back on court amongst other top players from around the globe. The Swiss elite will also be represented at the Yonex Swiss Open with European bronze medalist Sabrina Jaquet and other promising talents for whom the tournament provides an opportunity to face the world’s best.


Preparations for 2019 World Championships
The parallel World Championships event in 2019 will be very first of its kind and the Swiss badminton association is looking forward to hosting from 19-25 August in St. Jakobshalle. 

For the first time ever, the world championships of badminton and para-badminton will be organized at the same time in the same venue. Swiss Badminton is already starting the preparations as their excitement for this event grows daily.

 - It is an absolute must for every badminton enthusiast, to be part of this premiere in sports history, stated the President of Swiss Badminton, Robbert de Kock.
