Badminton Europe (BEC) took part in Holbæk Sports Centre’s topping-out ceremony.

BEC’s Centre of Excellence (COE) started up on 1 September 2017, but from the beginning of January 2019 the centre will be located in Holbæk Sports Centre.

Today, Holbæk Sports Centre Foundation (Fonden Holbæk SportsBy) invited everyone involved from the municipality and local sports organisations to the topping-out ceremony.

One of the speakers at the ceremony was the Danish Minister of Industry Brian Mikkelsen, who shares the enthusiasm for the project.

- In this centre it will be possible to gather many different types of sport, and I believe the sport of badminton can benefit from facilities as great as these, he tells Badminton Europe.

The social factor
The players currently attached to the centre are from all over Europe and have come here to reach their own individual goals.

The minister supports the decision to allocate the COE in Holbæk and believes it will be good for the young badminton talents to stay there.

- I can only see positive aspects in it from any possible angle, the minister says to Badminton Europe.
