From 6th to 11th of August was held the BEC Regional Project "Girls Camp",
organized by the Serbian Badminton Club RAVENS KG in close cooperation with the Badminton Association of Serbia and the city of Kragujevac.

It's now seven years in a row that Serbia is organizing such an event, thanks to Badminton Europe's development prorgam and financial support. This year the camp gathered 35 girls from 10 countries: Slovakia, Romania, Austria, Serbia, Bulgaria, Hungary and guest players from Denmark, Sweden, Croatia and Macedonia. The camp brought also coaches from these different nations.

This edition's big improvement was a new hall ("Jezero"), the biggest in the region. More quality courst were available and accomodation in nice hotels which were very close by.

Debbie Lynch (Denmark) was there for the fifth time in a row as a Head Coach. She was again able to bring her experience and knowledge during the intensive week of training. Players were having sessions twice a day.

On the last day a doubles tournament was played with two groups of 8 pairs which gave the girls many interesting and competitive matches.

Debbie Lynch stated: "The main training focus points this year was, after agreement with all coaches, on better footwork, balance, more economical movement, speed changes and the ability to play longer more secure rallies. We wanted to highlight the importance of every girl feeling that she is special with social interaction and communication from the coaches. As of the last four year focus was and is on a long term development".

In terms of social activities, the girls could enjoy some time in an indoor swimming pool, in an adventure park and some nice visits to the local ice cream shop! There was also a wine yard visit, a music evening and some shopping for the coaches.

Andreja Todorovic, Project Manager at BC RAVENS KG club was happy about the camp: "We are really proud that all the activities went according to the plan, thanks to all participants from ten countries, and we have also a sincere gratitude to the great staff, our patrons and sponsors who helped us to organise this edition with a record in terms of number of players.
We would like to mention that during the camp we had a great honour to become ambassadors of "Sports against Diabetes", a project run in Serbia."

During the camp Serbian National TV team "RTS" came to report. See video and article here: http://bit.ly/GC2017_RTS
