Badminton Europe are very happy to announce that the 2016 European Senior Championships have reached a ‘little’ milestone.

For the first time, one of our events will gather more than 1.000 participants. Our Board of Directors made the decision to change the regulations allowing more contestants from each countries, resulting in a record entry of 1.014 players from 36 different Member Associations.

“Allowing more entries per country was the right decision from the Board”, says Jimmy Andersen, Senior Manager at Badminton Europe. “To have so many participants is great for the event”

In Portugal two years ago, the number of participants was 800, making the number increase by a remarkable 25 per cent. This year it will be hosted in Slovenia from September 18-24, 2016.

The 2016 European Championships will be conducted in the city of Podčetrtek in Terme Olimia - a center which has hosted numerous events, and is an optimal resort for such an event.

The participants will compete in 40 events, with five events in each age group from +35 to + 70.

Learn more about the 2016 European Senior Championships on the BEC Events page.

The confirmed list of participants will be published and can be found on the above-mentioned page by tomorrow August 11.
