It is the time of the year again where all the European Badminton Federations gather at the 2016 BEC Congress to meet and discuss about European badminton and celebrate badminton achievements of the past year. This year, the Slovenian Badminton Federation plays host to all the delegates to Podcetrtek, situated in the eastern part of Slovenia.

During the four days stay in Podcetrtek, participants will take part in the different programmes planned by Badminton Europe together with the local organizer and its partners. A brief BEC Congress programme is as below:

•    Thursday, 14th April 2016 –  Members´ Forum (Day 1)
•    Friday, 15th April 2016 –  Members´ Forum (Day 2)
•    Saturday, 16th April 2016 – 49th BEC Annual Delegates´ Meeting and 4th BEC Awards Gala Evening
•    Sunday, 17th April 2016 – BEC Board of Directors´ Meeting

48th Annual Delegates´ Meeting - Paris, France

Gregory Verpoorten, BEC President on the participation at the BEC Congress “I am delighted to welcome over 100 guests for our annual BEC Awards Gala and to have over 40 Member Associations present at our ADM this year. This demonstrates that our MA’s are fully engaged to participate in BEC’s decision making and interested in the topics we are bringing at our Forum. On top of that, our Slovenian hosts have spared no effort to help make our stay and activities top notch. I am very grateful to Matevz Srekl (Secretary General of the Slovenian Badminton Federation) and his team for all their support in preparation for our Forum, ADM and Gala.”

This year, BEC included a practical session for the first time during the Members´ Forum where all the delegates can play some badminton, try Fit´minton, and also have the opportunity to experience playing badminton with a sports wheelchair.

We have all worked around the clock for the preparation of this congress and I hope that all the participants will bring back lots of useful information from this Congress,´ stated Brian Agerbak, General Secretary of Badminton Europe.

4th BEC Awards Gala

 

Saturday, 16th April 2016 is the date where the winners of the different BEC Awards will be announced. This will take place during the 4th BEC Awards Gala Evening attended by more than 100 people. The Awards that will be announced are:

•    BEC Male Player of the Year Award 2015
•    BEC Female Player of the Year Award 2015
•    BEC Young Player of the Year Award 2015
•    BEC Senior Player of the Year Award 2015
•    BEC Para-badminton Player of the Year Award 2015
•    BEC Technical Official of the Year Award 2015
•    BEC Coach of the Year Award 2015
•    BEC Women in Badminton Award 2015
•    Hall of Fame
•    Host country for the 2017 Annual Delegates´ Meeting (BEC 50th Anniversary)
