Europe's badminton power house Denmark retained the European U17 Team Championships title by beating second seeded England 3-1 in today's final after Anders Antonsen and Joel Eipe swept past England's Matthew Clare and Ben Lane in the decisive boy's doubles match.

But it was the English team who got off to a better start in Ankara this morning as Ben Lane & Jessica Pugh beat Ditlev Jæger Holm & Julie Ormstrup Jensen in the opening game 24-22, 21-15. But Denmark were able to fight back and grabbed the next three matches in a convincing style.

Anders Antonsen beat David King in two games. Followed by Julie Dawall Jakobsen's victory over Ira Banerjee in the girl's singles. Then Antonsen and Eipe delivered a straight games victory in the fourth and decisive boy's doubles match to secure a 3-1 win over England.

The Danes won their fifth consecutive European U17 team title after they have been successful in the 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011 editions. The bronze medals were won by host nation Turkey and France.

The individual event of the 2014 European U17 Championships started today afternoon with the finals being played on Sunday.
