Player Pathway Programme

Talented athletes need a clear series of steps to follow – from their first experience with badminton in a school or community programme through to eventual podium success.  National federations can help move players along this road to success.

The BWF offers the Player Pathway Programme to assist national federations in designing a player pathway that is right for them.  Run in conjunction with the World Academy of Sport, this is a face-to-face course for federation personnel involved in athlete development, including:
  • High-performance Directors
  • National coaches
  • Federation Presidents
Participants in the Player Pathway Programme will carry out hands-on activities designed to help them formulate their own systematic plans for:
  • Identifying and developing talent
  • Finding the resources and support needed
  • Identifying the stakeholders involved
  • Gaining stakeholder support
  • Presenting high-performance athletes at major events
  • Achieving and validating interim and final objectives
The previous WAoS Player Pathway Programme was held in Holbæk (DEN) from 3-5 November 2017.
